Manchester City are set to secure the futures of two of their brightest young prospects, with one new deal already confirmed and another close to completion.
News of the renewals follows City’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Wednesday (September 24) in the third round of the EFL Cup.
O’Reilly commits to City until 2030
City confirmed on Friday (September 26) that academy graduate Nico O’Reilly has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, with the option of a further year.
Last season’s injury crisis handed the young midfielder a breakthrough opportunity in Pep Guardiola’s first team, where he impressed across 21 appearances, many of which came in the unfamiliar role of left-back.
Having already featured in six matches across competitions this season, the new deal marks another milestone in O’Reilly’s decade-long journey through City’s ranks.

“This is a day I will never forget,” the 20-year-old said.
“I have been at City since the age of eight, and to have made it into the first team and have played matches is a dream come true. To be rewarded with a new contract really is special.
“I am really proud and so is my mum! She has sacrificed so much to get me to where I am today, so I am just as happy for her as I am for myself.
“But in truth, this is just the beginning for me. I have come so far, but I want to keep pushing now, improving every day, and become the best player I can be.”

Savinho next in line
The second key youngster set to extend terms at City is Savinho, who has established himself as a key part of Guardiola’s squad following his move from sister club Girona last summer.
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian is now close to agreeing a long-term deal of his own.
After a slow start to life in Manchester, Savinho has become an increasingly valuable option off the bench for Guardiola, providing a different option to attacking widemen Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.
Tottenham Hotspur made two unsuccessful bids for him in the summer, but City rejected both, viewing the youngster as an important part of their long-term plans.
Romano reported on X on Friday (September 25) that contract talks between City and Savinho are now in the advanced, final stages, with an agreement expected soon.
