Man City star reaches Galatasaray agreement as transfer details revealed image

Ilkay Gundogan is set to join Galatasaray after Manchester City accepted terms for his departure, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 34-year-old midfielder will sign a two-year contract through June 2027 with an option for another season.

He is expected in Istanbul late Tuesday [September 2] for medicals before completing the move.

It was further confirmed by the Turkish Media Outlet, Daily Sabah, which added the deal involves a symbolic fee of £3.5m [$4.6m] as City eased their roster to allow him consistent playing time.

Gündogan will reportedly earn £4.3m [$5.7m] annually which will make him one of the highest-paid players in Turkey.

Galatasaray’s ambitious summer also has brought Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane, Wilfried Singo  and goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakız.

The Turkish champions, who have not advanced beyond the Champions League group stage since 2014 wanted addition before Champions League registration deadline on September 2.

Gundogan met Pep Guardiola on deadline day before exit

According to TBR Football journalist Graeme Bailey, Gundogan spoke directly with Pep Guardiola before making his decision.

Bailey explained, “I am told that he had lengthy talks with Pep both on Monday and the previous week. It was very harmonious, and it was just put to him that he wouldn’t be playing too much but he could stay and play a squad role.”
