Pep Guardiola is expected to continue his Manchester City rebuild in 2026 with more key exits planned.

The Catalan coach opted for major changes ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with former captains Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan all moving on.

Those departures were mirrored by £181m worth of new arrivals including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki as part of new era at the Etihad Stadium.

The lack of leadership was swiftly addressed by Guardiola with Bernardo Silva appointed as the new captain but his long-term future is unclear.

Six-time Premier League winner Silva is out of contract next summer with former club Benfica planning a free transfer offer to bring him back to Lisbon.

The lure of a return to Portugal would be a pull factor for the 31-year-old, but he is open to other options, with the potential of a Serie A reunion with De Bruyne on the table.

As per Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are considering an offer at the start of 2026, with a view to signing Silva ahead of the 2026/27 season.

De Bruyne was controversially not offered a contract extension in Manchester, but Guardiola is open to renewing Silva's deal, with the key call resting with the midfielder.

No decision will be made until at least January with Silva on course to rocket up the list of City's all-time Premier League appearance makers.

The former AS Monaco playmaker is currently fifth on the list, with 270, with De Bruyne second [285] and namesake David Siva No.1 on 309.
