Rodri sustained a fresh injury during Manchester City's 1-0 win away at Brentford on Sunday afternoon (October 5).
The midfielder went down just 20 minutes into the Premier League contest at the Gtech Community Stadium after picking up a hamstring injury, with Nico Gonzales coming on to replace him.
While the injury is not thought to be serious, it will be a concern for Pep Guardiola that his midfield anchor cannot be relied upon in the same manner compared to previous campaigns.
Rodri was unavailable for the majority of last season due to rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in September 2024, and missed City's win over Burnley recently due to a knee issue.
This has caused City to be careful with the player's minutes usage this season, as losing him again for an extended period would be a massive blow for the side's chances in all competitions this season.
Decision made after Rodri's latest injury

Rodri provided some information over his injury when speaking to reporters after the game against Brentford.

"I felt a little bit in the hamstring, but it seems as though it's not that much," the 29-year-old stated.
"I stretched a bit, like in the final of the Euros (when he went off injured at half-time against England). But the most important thing is it's not that big," he added.
Unfortunately, This latest injury setback for the defensive midfielder means he has had to pull out of Spain's upcoming World Cup qualifiers at home against Georgia and Bulgaria.
Rodri will inevitably be a key member of Spain's squad at next summer's World Cup, but including him in the upcoming fixtures would not be worth the risk due to La Roja's abundance of midfield depth and quality.
However, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner then confirmed that he should be able to play in City's next game after the international break, at home to Everton on October 18.
