Mesut Ozil made the move from Arsenal to Fenerbahce at the end of his career. Now another former German international of Turkish descent is set to join a Super Lig club.

Ilkay Gundogan has not been the same player for Manchester City since returning to the club from Barcelona.

In 33 Premier League games last season, Gundogan scored just once, but did make seven assists.

City also had a disappointing season, which Gundogan was not used to in his first stint with the club.

Gundogan won five Premier League titles and the Champions League with City. However, his time playing under Pep Guardiola is coming to an end.

Sky Sports has revealed that "Galatasaray are in talks to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City."

Galatasaray is building a strong squad

Galatasaray's rivals in the Super Lig have been busy changing managers recently. Jose Mourinho lost his job with Fenerbahce, whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by Besiktas.

As for Galatasaray, who are Turkey's defending champions, the only way seems up.

They are top of the league with four wins from four games, and boast a very strong squad.

Okan Buruk's side signed Victor Osimhen permanently this summer, whilst Leroy Sane also joined the club.

If Galatasaray can sign Gundogan as well, then they will be expected to win the Super Lig again this season.
