After losing the Premier League title to Liverpool this season, Manchester City will look to bring in reinforcements in the summer transfer window to try and bring back the trophy to Etihad Stadium in 2026.
Pep Guardiola will spearhead the rebuild as City aim to regain their lost glory, with four new faces arriving in the January window, including Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez and Vitor Reis.
Amidst all the incoming players, club legend Kevin de Bruyne will leave the club at the end of the season after the club hierarchy decided not to hand the Belgian a new contract.
Initial reports suggested Guardiola was not looking at someone to replace De Bruyne, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has hinted City are progressing with an offer on Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White.
While City are genuinely interested in Gibbs-White, Forest are in no mood to let their club captain go, on thee back of an exceptional season.
The England international been an integral part of Forest's rise in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito Santo, with a contract in place until 2027, so Forest can demand a massive price for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Will Gibbs-White move to Manchester City?
Gibbs-Whitee has been a standout player for Forest, who have been the biggest surprise of the 2024/25 season. Nuno's men are on the verge of potentially qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and the skipper has been at the heart of their efforts.

Gibbs-White is a dynamic midfielder who, apart from his primary offensive and creative duties, is adept at winning second balls. That combative streak - matched with quality in possession - has fascinated Guardiola and the City management.
He has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 30 Premier League matches this season. As per FBref, he has registered 101 scoring chance assists (SCA) and 17 goal-creating actions (GCA).
The Englishman certainly has the quality, and fits the profile that Guardiola is looking for in midfield, but a deal could revolve around Forest's UCL qualification.
Forest have no obligation or requirement to sell Gibbs-White. So they may ask for a transfer fee in the region of £100m [$132m], which would match City's club transfer record, and Guardiola make look to edge that price down.
