Xabi Alonso already has a star-studded lineup at Real Madrid, but is looking at a Liverpool player who is yet to make his mark at Anfield.

Florian Wirtz starred for Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, where they won the Bundesliga and got to the Europa League final.

However, since moving to Liverpool, Wirtz is yet to score or make an assist in seven Premier League games.

According to Defensa Central, "Alonso, aware of the need to sign a midfielder, to ask Real Madrid to keep a close eye on Florian Wirtz's situation for next year."

Would Florian Wirtz rediscover his form under Xabi Alonso?

Under Alonso at Leverkusen, Wirtz scored 38 goals with 43 assists in 119 games. However, the pressure of playing for Liverpool is far greater than that of representing Leverkusen.

Wirtz also has a £116m price tag, which can affect players in living up to expectations.

If he is struggling with being at a big club like Liverpool, then it will be even more difficult for him at Real Madrid.

He would be playing under Alonso again, who knows how to get the best out of him. However, Wirtz would be competing with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler for a starting spot in the attacking midfield role.

Los Blancos are expected to win titles every season, and are always keen to add star names to their squad. However, Wirtz's current form with Liverpool does not merit a transfer to Real Madrid.
