Mohamed Salah bites back at Liverpool fans over transfer 'disrespect' image

Liverpool wrapped up the Premier League transfer window with a sensational deadline day move for Alexander Isak.

After weeks of speculation over his future, the Sweden international finally completed his switch to Anfield, as part of a £125m transfer.

The deal means the defending champions have now broken the Premier League transfer record twice this summer following a June swoop to bring in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite failing to secure a last minute deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, it's been a stellar summer for Arne Slot, with a club record £446m paid out on new players.

That's more than Liverpool have ever spent in one transfer window but their incoming revenue has struck a balance.

With £228m brought in via sales, including Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah, Liverpool's net spend is -£218m.

Only Arsenal, on -£257m finished above Liverpool in the 'net spend' table, with fans pleased with the financial balance struck.

However, some supporters have taken a swipe at the 'upgrades' of Isak and Wirtz on Nunez and Diaz, and talisman Mohamed Salah has bitten back at the disrespect shown to the outgoing stars.

"How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?"

Nunez heads to Al Hilal on the back of three seasons at Anfield, with 40 goals in 143 appearances, and a league title last season.

Colombia international Diaz opted to make the move to Bayern Munich in August with 41 goals in 148 games at Liverpool.
