Liverpool are preparing to defend their Premier League title in 2025/26 amid major changes at Anfield.

Arne Slot stormed over the title line last season as the Dutch coach sealed the top-flight crown in his debut season ahead of rivals Arsenal.

Reds fans are expectant of Slot being right in the mix for trophies again in the months ahead and potentially launching a charge in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the confidence of another successful season incoming, Liverpool's summer has been heavily impacted by tragedy, following the death of striker Diogo Jota at the start of July.

The Portugal international was killed alongside his brother Andre in a car accident in Spain as he was heading back to Liverpool for the start of preseason.

The footballing world has rallied in support of Jota's family and Liverpool FC in the aftermath with a major loss felt by all on the red side of Merseyside.

Liverpool's 2025/26 preseason schedule

With Liverpool not featuring in the FIFA Club World Cup, Slot's squad have enjoyed a full summer break, with only selected players in international action at the start of June.

Their preseason schedule kicks off against EFL Championship side Preston North End on Sunday July 13, followed by two games in South East Asia, and the FA Community Shield on August 10.

Liverpool's 2025/26 transfer, latest rumours

The main summer departure for Liverpool has been Trent Alexander-Arnold move to Real Madrid - with the Reds eventually securing a transfer fee for the England international - as Los Blancos wanted him in place for the Club World Cup.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah have moved on, to Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, with more departures expeected after a slew of new arrivals.

Darwin Nunez is being tracked by clubs in Serie A with Luis Diaz confirming he is considering his contract options amid links with Barcelona.

On the incoming front, Trent has been replaced by Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, with Milos Kerkez coming in on the opposite flank.

However, the big news is a Premier League transfer record move to bring in Germany star Florian Wirtz, on the back of 16 goals and 14 assists with Xabi Alonso's team in 2024/25.
