Liverpool are expected to revisit their transfer link to Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi in 2026.
Arne Slot launched a transfer deadline day move for the England international on September 1 but the deal fell apart.
Despite agreeing a £35m fee with the FA Cup holders, and Guehi already saying goodbye to his teammates, the move was blocked at the last minute.
Palace were unable to secure a replacement in time and Oliver Glasner cancelled the exit in the final hours of the transfer window.
Guehi is rumoured to be frustrated with Glasner's stance - but he's also irked by Liverpool's inability to get the deal done - after weeks of talks with Palace and his representatives.
Palace chairman Steve Parish confirmed he wanted to sell Guehi, to avoid a free transfer exit next summer, when the 25-year-old's contract expires.

Guehi will not renew terms at Selhurst Park, and Liverpool now face competition to sign him, with Palace potentially open to a cut-price £25m deal in January,
Real Madrid are in the race and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly edged ahead of Liverpool with Guehi tempted by staying in London.

Liverpool's position is further impacted by the likely free transfer of Ibrahima Konate in 2026 and the club are not keen on a big-spending January after some huge purchases this summer.
However, reports from the Daily Express claim former side Chelsea will not make an offer to bring him back to Stamford Bridge, despite expressing a summer interest in their former academy graduate.
Chelsea's withdrawal from the Guehi race boosts Liverpool's chances but there are still several hurdles for Slot to overcome to secure a deal.
Guehi spent 14 years at Chelsea as a youngster - without making a single Premier League appearance - before moving onto Palace in 2021.
