Marc Guehi performed as an absolute professional throughout the transfer window, but did not get his move.

Whilst players such as Alexander Isak and Yoan Wissa forced their clubs to sell them, Guehi always showed up for Crystal Palace.

Unfortunately for Guehi, Palace blocked his transfer to Liverpool late in the window.

This could be a blessing in disguise for Guehi as he should now play every minute for Palace ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Guehi stands a much better chance of playing for Thomas Tuchel's England squad if he has regular game time. This may not have been guaranteed if he had joined Liverpool.

It is now expected that Guehi will leave on a free transfer next summer, with more top teams interested in his services.

The Telegraph has reported that "It may be Liverpool again this time next year, or even in January. Or it may be elsewhere, perhaps even Real Madrid, the world’s leading dealer in high-end free agents."

Liverpool or Real Madrid for Marc Guehi?

It appears that Guehi had his heart set on Liverpool this summer, which is no surprise as they are the Premier League champions.

A move to Anfield next summer could fit in well, especially if Ibrahima Konate joins Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Los Blancos do have a lure that is too great even for local Liverpool players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Guehi could line up at the Bernabeu alongside fellow Englishman Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham.

During the Galacticos era, Real Madrid had David Beckham, Michael Owen, and Jonathan Woodgate. So history could repeat itself with three England players turning out again for the Spanish giants.
