Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi before the summer transfer window comes to an end on September 1.
Guehi has been a key player in Crystal Palace's backline last season, contributing to 17 clean sheets in 44 games while recording three goals and two assists.
As the 25-year-old has entered the last year of his current contract, the Eagles have a big decision at hand on whether to sell Guehi now or risk letting him go for free next summer.
Last week, Crystal Palace parted ways with another of their top players, Eberechi Eze, who signed a four-year contract with Arsenal. Now, Guehi’s potential move to Liverpool could leave the Eagles with an unbalanced squad for the upcoming campaign.
Crystal Palace are set to make the trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa in their next Premier League clash on August 31. Ahead of the upcoming match, the Eagles' head coach, Oliver Glasner, addressed questions about Guehi's situation and spoke about the defender's importance in his squad.
What did Crystal Palace boss say about Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi?
Glasner mentioned that he 'deeply hopes' that Guehi plays against Aston Villa and the rest of the 2025/26 season and said,

"Yes, everybody can see how many players we have available, everybody can see how important Marc is, so honestly, I don't know, but I really deeply hope that Marc will play for us at Villa Park. I deeply hope that Marc will play until the end of the season for us," as per GOAL.
The Austrian manager also admitted the toll the transfer window takes on coaches, expressing his opinion that it would be 'easier' if the market closed before the beginning of a new season, and added,
"I mention it often, for me and for every manager, it would best if the window stops when the season starts, because you're preparing the team for a season. That would make it easier, but at the end I will do the same as last year – Monday, September 1, I will go into the pub and order a pint of beer."
While it appears that Liverpool are closing in on acquiring Guehi's signature, reports have suggested that Crystal Palace are considering Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji as a potential successor for the Englishman.
