Federico Chiesa’s Liverpool career is slipping away quickly. The 27-year-old winger has fallen far behind in Arne Slot’s attacking plans after the arrivals of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.

Chiesa has not even been registered for the Champions League squad and has played only 47 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Even his important goal against Bournemouth could not alter his position with Slot relying instead on newer recruits and established forwards.

The Reds paid just £10m [$13.5m] to bring him from Juventus in 2024 on a four year deal but his first season was disrupted by injuries and competition.

He only featured in 14 games, totaling fewer than 500 minutes on the pitch last term and this season has offered no improvement and his long-term role at Anfield is viewed as highly uncertain.

Former Everton CEO believes Chiesa could end his Liverpool career in September

Keith Wyness, who served as Everton’s chief executive between 2004 and 2009, believes Chiesa could leave immediately.

Speaking to Football Insider’s , Wyness said:

“Look, there’s still time left in the Saudi transfer window, we’ve got just under another week to go. So, possibly Chiesa could move down there.

“I’m surprised it hasn’t worked. Liverpool have got a reputation for being very thorough on all their checks and everything about this. So something has happened, and I’m not quite sure what it is.

“I think he’ll be moving on because he just seems unhappy. Now, if he were to get some league opportunities through injuries, a couple of good games and all those things are forgiven.

But something seems to have happened, and I’m sure it will come out in due course.”
