Marc Guehi was denied a transfer to Liverpool on deadline day, but is still expected to leave Crystal Palace as he is in the final year of his contract.
Guehi is still being linked with Liverpool, but other Premier League clubs too, whilst there is also interest from top European teams, including Bayern Munich.
Palace risk losing Guehi on a free transfer at the end of the season, unless they sell him in January.
The Eagles need to find a replacement for their captain, especially as their manager, Oliver Glasner, is getting frustrated and could also be leaving the club.
There were reports that Glasner threatened to quit if Guehi departed on deadline day. However, the Palace boss has denied this.
Glasner has been linked with Manchester United, and if Palace continue to lose their best players, then his days at Selhurst Park will be numbered.

Despite losing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal over the summer, Palace have started this season well and are currently third in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen how long Glasner can keep Palace punching above their weight. Recruits will be needed if they are to build on their FA Cup triumph of the last campaign.
Who could replace Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace?
When it comes to replacing Guehi, SunSport has reported that "Palace are scouring the market for a replacement with Ousmane Diomande on their radar and Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong also being tracked."
Guehi is Palace's captain and an England international, so he would have big boots to fill at the club.
Acheampong is only 19, an England U21 player, but has so far made just seven Premier League appearances for Chelsea.
The defender is one for the future, and may fancy the move to Palace to ensure a better chance of regular game time.
Diomande, who is 21 and an Ivory Coast senior international, is a more experienced option. However, the Sporting CP defender lacks Premier League experience.
