Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi will leave the club in 2026.

Liverpool launched a transfer deadline day move to land the England international before the window closed on September 1 but the deal dramatically fell apart.

Despite agreeing a £35m fee with the FA Cup holders, and Guehi already saying goodbye to his teammates, the move was blocked at the last minute.

As part of the talks, Palace stated they would not sell without bringing in a replacement and Oliver Glasner pulled the plug in controversial style.

Palace chairman Steve Parish had previously confirmed he wanted to sell Guehi, to avoid a free transfer exit next summer, when the 25-year-old's contract expires.

Guehi has no intention of signing an extension at Selhurst Park, but he is frustrated that Liverpool failed to get a deal completed, and Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are now in the race.

Palace's desire to sell for £25m in January does not fit with any other the chasing club's plans and they will all wait for him as a pre-World Cup free agent.

With time at the club coming to a close, Glasner has lined up West Ham United centre-back Max Kilman as his No.1 target, as per Football Insider.

Palace eye West Ham star as Guehi replacement

Kilman is under contract at the London Stadium until 2031, after joining from Wolves in 2024, and Palace's London rivals will demand at least £45m to consider a sale.

The 28-year-old has impressed in a struggling West Ham with an incredible record of Premier League consistency.

In his final two seasons at Wolves [2022/23 and 2023/24], he missed just one top-flight appearance, and played in all 38 for West Ham in his debut campaign [2024/25] - with 114 played from the last 115 league matches.
