Marc Guehi is still being linked heavily with a move to the Premier League's defending champions, Liverpool.

It would be a huge blow for Crystal Palace to lose their captain after already losing star forward Eberechi Eze this transfer window.

Oliver Glasner's side must find replacements for these key players if they are to build on their success of winning the FA Cup last season.

An option to potentially replace Guehi at centre-back is an out-of-favour Manchester City defender.

According to The Sun, "Palace have tabled an ambitious £15million bid for Manuel Akanji ahead of transfer deadline day."

Akanji is a very experienced defender who has won the Premier League twice and the Champions League with Manchester City.

The Swiss defender is now 30 and has not been used by Pep Guardiola in their opening two league games of the season.

As it is a campaign which will finish with the World Cup at the end of it, Akanji will want game time as he is still a Switzerland international.

Leaving Man City, where you have a high chance of winning silverware, would be tough, but to be a part of Palace's first season in Europe is also an exciting prospect.
