Marc Guehi, being the ultimate professional, might have cost him a transfer to Liverpool from Crystal Palace in the last transfer window.

Guehi did not kick up a fuss at Selhurst Park and ultimately did not secure a transfer to the Premier League champions.

This is in contrast to Alexander Isak, who went on strike at Newcastle United to force his way to Anfield.

Whilst Isak made his debut for the Reds in the Champions League this week, Guehi was playing in the EFL Cup against Millwall.

Guehi is now in the final year of his Palace contract and is being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Guehi is still being linked with Liverpool, but top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, are also reportedly interested in the centre-back.

According to Football Insider, "Chelsea are the latest Premier League club to join the race to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer."

It may be a benefit that Guehi did not join Liverpool, as he will now play regularly for Palace ahead of the World Cup next year.

A return to Stamford Bridge would be fitting for Guehi, as he began his career with the Blues.

Guehi only made two EFL Cup appearances for Chelsea before being sent on loan to Swansea City.

He then joined Palace permanently and has become a legend there by captaining them to their first ever FA Cup victory.
