Chelsea fans have been buzzing over Moises Caicedo’s stunning goal against Liverpool, but the midfielder has poured cold water on comparisons to club legends N’Golo Kante and Claude Makelele.

Despite his rising star power, Caicedo insists he still has work to do before he can even dream of matching their legacy.

The £115 million signing from Brighton has quickly become a key figure under Enzo Maresca. Known for his tenacious tackling and ability to control the midfield, the 23-year-old has recently added a goal-scoring edge, highlighted by his long-range strike against the Reds in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory.

The result marked another positive step for a team still finding stability after years of turmoil.

“It’s so good the fans love me, but for sure I am very far from N’Golo Kante or Makelele,” Caicedo said in an interview with Chelsea’s official media.

“What they did here was a lot. I am going to keep working because I want to become a legend here and reach a lot of things with this amazing club.”

Caicedo also revealed he’s aiming to score more goals from distance, adding another dimension to his game. “It was a great goal, I told myself this season I had to score one from outside the box, and I did it!” he said. The midfielder stresses that helping the team is the priority, not individual accolades.

Chelsea are currently five points off the top of the Premier League, and consistency will be key as they look to challenge the traditional top three.

Caicedo acknowledges the challenge ahead: “It’s too early to say we’re going to win it. For sure, we want to win the Premier League. We will take it step by step because the Premier League is tough, but we are going to do our best.”

The win against Liverpool also boosted confidence, particularly as injuries continue to test squad depth. “When you beat big teams, it’s so important for us, for our confidence, and today we did that,” Caicedo added.

Chelsea fans can dream of seeing another legend emerge, but for now, Caicedo’s humility and hunger make him one to watch.
