Chelsea slumped to a disappointing 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at home on Saturday, and Jorrel Hato has revealed his learnings from the defeat in the aftermath of the game.
Chelsea were 1-0 up and in total control of the match until Trevoh Chalobah was sent off in the 53rd minute.
For Hato, the Blues did not do well in a couple of areas after the sending off, something that the Dutchman was extremely honest about.
On a personal level, Hato had a good game but had to be taken off before the end of the game due to cramps.
One department in which Chelsea were not good enough, especially after the sending off, was their defence of crosses into the box.
Enzo Maresca’s team conceded Brighton’s equaliser and the winning goal both came from crosses and Hato was left to rue Chelsea’s defending after the game.

Jorrel Hato believes Chelsea could have defended crosses better against Brighton
From Hato’s point of view, Chelsea could have dealt with the Seagulls’ aerial assault much better.
“You can see it just affects the game, when we are down to 10 men against 11, and we did it for nearly 40 minutes yesterday. You can see it’s very difficult,” the 19-year-old was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official club website after the game.
“We knew, of course, they would be playing on the sides and coming in with crosses. I think we could have done better, for sure.

“We’re very disappointed because we knew it would be difficult, but I think we didn’t give a lot of chances away before their equaliser. So, as I said, we’re very disappointed.”
Chelsea’s defeat against Brighton will be even more frustrating as they repeated a lot of the errors they made against Manchester United last weekend.
The team will now have to find a way to pick themselves up and get back on track as they prepare to face Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
