Glenn Hoddle claims Chelsea star should be appreciated more image

Former Chelsea midfielder Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for Chelsea star Cole Palmer, but claimed that the attacking midfielder is not appreciated as much as he should be.

Palmer scored on his 100th appearance for Chelsea against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Blues from slipping to a 3-1 defeat.

The 23-year-old was arguably Chelsea’s best player on the night, and had a second goal ruled out for a marginal offside late on.

The English international missed Chelsea’s wins against West Ham and Fulham with a groin injury, but he’s now fit again and has scored in his last two games.

Despite the attacking talent on display at Chelsea, Palmer is still very much the jewel in the crown, and the player the Blues still look at to make something happen.

This was once again the case against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, where Palmer stood and shoulders above the rest as Chelsea’s best player.

Glenn Hoddle claims that Cole Palmer is under-appreciated

Palmer has 74 goal contributions in 100 Chelsea appearances, and at £40m is one of the best signings Chelsea have made in recent times.

The England international has rightly been praised left, right and centre, but Hoddle has claimed Palmer isn’t appreciated as much as he should be.

“They’re back in the game, what a finish,” Hoddle told TNT Sports on commentary.

“How easy does that look, but it’s not easy; the balance to hit it first time and just pass it into the corner, a wonderful goal.

“Wonderful player, and I agree with Joe, he’s a must for England, build the team around him.

“We’ve got some wonderful players, Foden, Eze, Palmer, amazing talents.

“If other countries had all these talents, we’d be admiring them even more.”

Following a disappointing result against Bayern Munich, Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday night.

Once again, Palmer will have to be at his best if he is to inspire Chelsea to victory against the Red Devils.
