Despite being a coach for only a few years now, Enzo Maresca has already worked with several talented players.

The 45-year-old manager had a brief spell in Italy with Parma. In England, he guided Leicester City to the Championship title and promotion during his one-year tenure at the King Power Stadium before becoming Chelsea manager in the summer of 2024.

He has had a fairly successful tenure at Stamford Bridge so far, guiding the Blues to the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season.

Following Maresca’s successful start to life at Chelsea, former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas praised the Italian as a great coach who’s done a superb job so far during his first 15 months in charge.

Additionally, Roberto Di Matteo also said that he would not offer any advice to Maresca on the back of the kind of start he has had to life at Chelsea.

Given that he has worked with a number of talented players so far in his career, Maresca was recently asked to name the best player he has ever coached, and he picked a Chelsea star.

While speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Maresca showered praise on current Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Marc Cucurella.

When asked to name the best player he’s coached, Maresca responded: “Cole Palmer.”

The duo go back a long way, having worked together during their time at Manchester City before reuniting at Chelsea last season.

It's hard to argue with Maresca’s choice, as Palmer has been an inspired signing for the Blues. In 101 appearances for them, he’s scored 45 goals and created 29 assists.

The English international is currently out with a groin injury, and it would be an understatement to say that Chelsea misses him.

When he’s fit and firing, the left-footed playmaker is one of the world’s best individuals. He underlined that by finishing in eighth place in the recent Ballon d’Or award.
