AS Roma are continuing their hunt for talent in the Premier League this summer following an impasse in their talks with Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
Fabrizio Romano reported on August 14 that Roma submitted an official bid in the region of £20m to sign Sancho on a permanent basis, though they also explored the possibility of a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.
But as per reports from Romano on Monday (August 18), the 25-year-old has no intention of making the move to the Italian capital.
The Giallorossi’s sporting director Frederic Massara recently confirmed that talks had with Sancho have collapsed.
“There are no conditions to proceed with this deal, especially as Sancho doesn’t have the motivations to join AS Roma,” Massara said.
Sancho remains out of Ruben Amorim’s first-team plans at United and will likely not feature for United this season should he not secure a move.
But Roma are not deterred by the Sancho talks stalling, with Romano reporting that the Italian outfit are shifting focus one of Chelsea’s highest-rated prospects.
Which Chelsea player could make the switch to Serie A?
With Sancho off the table, Roma have switched their attention to one of Chelsea’s brightest prospects: 19-year-old winger Tyrique George.
As per reports from Romano on Sunday (August 24), Roma have re-established contact with the Blues after initial discussions in July as they look to accelerate a deal before deadline day.

George is not part of Chelsea’s “bomb squad” – the group of players excluded from Enzo Maresca’s plans – but opportunities look very slim this season following a busy summer of recruitment.
The Blues have added Jamie Gittens, Estevao, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap, meaning competition for attacking places will be fierce and minutes will likely be scarce.
The England youth international made 25 appearances under Maresca last season, contributing three goals and five assists.
Interest in George is not only limited to Roma, though, with RB Leipzig and several Premier League sides also monitoring his situation.
