With a handful of days to go before the transfer window shuts, Chelsea find themselves in a strong position.
In the past few weeks, the Blues have been focusing on letting go of players who are surplus to requirements at the club and have now agreed a deal for Christopher Nkunku to join AC Milan.
Now, the departure of the Frenchman has opened up space for new players in the team and on the wage bill.
With regards to incomings, Enzo Maresca’s team has just agreed a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United and are now set to turn their attention to signing an attacking midfielder.
Despite being linked with a move for Xavi Simons all summer long, Fermin Lopez has emerged as a surprise transfer target for the West London side in the past few days.
Now, the Premier League side is all set to pull out all the stops to land their man before deadline day.

Chelsea to leave no stone unturned to sign Fermin Lopez
Chelsea are keen on Lopez’s signature, and it has been claimed that conversations have already been held between Enzo Maresca and the player.
According to a report from Sport, Chelsea are willing to do “everything possible” to bring the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

The report also states that there is a €58m (£50m) offer on the table, giving both Barcelona and Lopez something to think about.
Interestingly, Lopez has told people close to him that he would prefer to remain at Barcelona this season. However, a switch to West London cannot be ruled out.
Therefore, this deal is worth keeping an eye on as we head into the final few days of the transfer window.
