Alejandro Garnacho is hoping reignite his career following a transfer deadline day move from Manchester United to rivals Chelsea.

The Argentina international was keen to remain in the Premier League after being informed of Ruben Amorim's desire to sell him earlier this summer.

Amorim completed his goal of offloading Garnacho, Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho before the window closed as he looks to head in a new direction at Old Trafford.

Garnacho's move to Stamford Bridge comes as part of a major rebuild from Enzo Maresca with around £285m spent on new players.

Alongside a £40m swoop for Garnacho, Maresca has brought in a host of other attacking options, including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Willian Estevao and Jamie Gittens.

Despite competition for places, the 21-year-old remains confident over his chances, and admitted his childhood connection with Eden Hazard was a factor in completing the move.

"It's a big step for me in my career. I used to watch the Premier League when I was young and Chelsea because I like Eden Hazard," as per Sky Sports.

"That's why I support Chelsea a bit. I wore the kit because I like football.

"Eden was a reference for me in my game. How he plays, and in the same position."

Garnacho will train with the remaining members of Maresca's squad in the coming days after not being selected for Argentina's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Ecuador this week.

He could make an instant debut on their return to Premier League action at Brentford on September 13 with Delap - and potentially Cole Palmer - out injured.
