Tommy Watson starred for Sunderland in the Championship last season, but has not been playing regularly since joining Brighton and Hove Albion.
Watson scored the winning goal against Sheffield United to secure promotion for the Black Cats in the playoff final.
He had already secured a transfer to Brighton, but he has not yet played for the Seagulls in the Premier League this season.
Watson made two appearances for Brighton in the EFL Cup, where he made his mark. He provided three assists in a 6-0 drubbing of Barnsley, whilst also scoring in a win by the same scoreline over Oxford United.
He has been on the bench twice for Fabian Hurzeler's side in the Premier League. However, it looks like Watson will have to leave to ensure regular game time.

According to Football Insider, "Porto are closely monitoring Brighton winger Tommy Watson after having a loan enquiry rejected on deadline day."
The Portuguese league has been a great finishing school for players in recent years. Former Brighton player Viktor Gyokeres starred in the division for Sporting CP and is now Arsenal's main striker.
Watson will be hoping he can write a similar story at Porto, who are managed by the highly rated Francesco Farioli.
Farioli so far has a perfect record with nine wins out of nine for Porto. They sit at the top of the Liga Portugal and have won their opening two Europa League matches.
The manager worked under former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi at Beneveto and Sassuolo. Farioli could be the man to get Watson's career back on track.
