FC Barcelona are exploring the possibility of signing Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva on a free transfer next summer, according to the Fichajes.
Silva’s contract runs out in June 2026 but his desire to return to Benfica and the lack of an extension agreement has put his future in the spotlight.
The Portuguese star is key player for Pep Guardiola and is trusted in both central and wide attacking roles.
According to the Fbref, Bernardo Silva ranks in the 99th percentile for progressive carries and touches in the box and also excels in creativity with elite xAG and shot-creating actions while maintaining strong passing efficiency and versatility.
The Blaugranes are still under La Liga’s financial limits and signing world class players without a transfer fee is a rare chance which the the Catalan club don’t want to let go.
Reportedly, Deco aims to meet Silva to present a project and are likely to offer him a key role at Camp Nou.
The problem however could be Silva’s wages at Manchester City and that could be beyond what Barcelona can afford, so any deal would have to be a big wage cut.
PSG and Juventus are also monitoring his situation, so there’s competition for his signature.
