Fermin Lopez was heavily linked with a summer departure from La Liga champions Barcelona.
With Barcelona looking to find a financial balance to register a host of new players and complete existing contract extensions, a major sale was planned, to cover all bases in one move.
Lopez was highlighted as a possible sale option, with Hansi Flick well stocked in midfield by Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Frenkie de Jong and Marc Casado.
However, despite a rumoured offer in the region of £75m from Premier League giants Chelsea, the Spain international declined the opportunity to leave.
The club eventually stepped back from talks, as Hansi Flick pushed to keep him in Catalonia, and the 22-year-old has revealed he made the call based on his desire to succeed at Barcelona.
"First of all, I was not 'on the verge' of leaving this summer," as per RAC1, via Mundo Deportivo.

"There were offers from other clubs, but I never had any intention of leaving, and I don't think the club wanted to sell me.

"I received a very good offer from a club in London. But, I have been a Barcelona fan all my life, and I didn't want to leave."
Lopez also confirmed his latest injury setback is not a major concern, with three weeks expected on the sidelines due to a hip issue, before returning to action after the October international break.
