Barcelona are hoping to make up ground on leaders Real Madrid in the La Liga standings as they travel to the northwest coast of Spain to face Celta Vigo on Sunday.

The Catalan giants have were poor in their midweek 3-3 draw with Club Brugge in Champions League action, and will need to pick themselves up to secure a quick bounce-back.

They trail by five points to Los Blancos at the top of the table, having secured victory in eight of their 11 matches thus far compared to Madrid's 10.

Celta Vigo, meanwhile, have shot up the table after a poor start, unbeaten in their last eight games across all competitions after failing to win any of their first eight.

Barcelona team news

Hansi Flick confirmed that Jules Kounde is a major doubt for the game due to a knock suffered against Club Brugge. Eric Garcia is available to play despite breaking his nose in the same game, and he will likely replace Kounde, with Andreas Christensen another option on the bench.

Barcelona are without Pedri due to a hamstring strain, and he is not expected back until after the international break in mid-November. Marc Casado replaced him in the weekend win over Elche and should continue to step in here.

Both Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski returned from their injuries midweek, available off the bench against Club Brugge in the Champions League. Both could be rotated back in to the starting lineup if they are fit enough to do so, at the potential expense of Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez.

Raphinha was aiming to be back from his injury by now, but he remains out of action and isn't expected to return until after the international break.

Barcelona injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Barcelona, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Joan Garcia

  • Injury: Meniscus tear (left knee)
  • Expected return date: November 2025

Garcia required arthroscopic surgery on a damaged meniscus in September. The goalkeeper is expected to return in early November.

Gavi

  • Injury: Meniscus damage (right knee)
  • Expected return date: February 2026

Gavi suffered damage to his right knee during an August training session. The midfielder avoided an ACL tear but required surgery to repair the meniscus. He's expected to face five months on the sidelines.

Robert Lewandowski

  • Injury: Hamstring (left leg)
  • Expected return date: November 2025

Lewandowski's latest muscle issue is expected to see him miss a few weeks, so he could be back just before the November break.

Raphinha

  • Injury: Hamstring (right leg)
  • Expected return date: November 2025

Raphinha was expected to be out for three weeks, but he suffered a small setback ahead of El Clasico and sat out the Brugge game. It seems likely at this stage that Flick will wait until after the international break to restore him to the team.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

  • Injury: Lower back
  • Expected return date: Uncertain

Ter Stegen's back surgery in July sparked a mini crisis at Barca, who stripped him of the captaincy before reinstating him after accepting his version of how long he expected to be sidelined. The Germany keeper could be back before the end of the year, but it is unclear at this moment.

Pedri

  • Injury: Hamstring (left leg)
  • Expected return date: November

Pedri has been vital for Barcelona this season, with his historic injury issues now resolved, and this latest issue is not expected to keep him out for long. He was omitted from Spain duty in November with Luis de la Fuente's team already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
