Aston Villa started off their 2025/26 Premier League season with a goalless draw against Newcastle United on August 16 at Villa Park.
After making some signings to their squad over the summer, reports have suggested that Aston Villa are looking forward to making a few more additions soon.
Aston Villa have been heavily linked with making a move to acquire Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson’s signature. The 24-year-old, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from La Liga side Villarreal in 2023, is reportedly ready to part ways with the Blues and has been of interest to some clubs, including Bayern Munich and AC Milan, among others.
However, most interested clubs stopped their pursuit of Jackson after learning Chelsea’s demand for the Senegalese International.
Now, despite being top suitors for Jackson, Aston Villa might not be able to sign him on a permanent contract as they are unable to pay a transfer fee of over €60m for the Chelsea star due to the restraints of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play, according to Florian Plettenberg.
What’s next for Aston Villa and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson?
Plettenberg’s report also suggested that, despite the FFP restrictions, Aston Villa are keeping track of Jackson’s situation until Deadline Day, with the possibility of a potential loan deal on the table.

Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery is reportedly appreciative of Jackson’s efforts on the pitch and would like to bring the striker to Villa Park.
Several reports have mentioned that Jackson has informed Chelsea of his desire to make a move away from the Blues this season, and he was left out of the squad for their Premier League opening match against Crystal Palace on August 17.
Jackson scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 37 appearances across competitions for Chelsea last season, and his contract at Stamford Bridge is valid until the summer of 2033.
