Mikel Arteta hints at Arsenal transfer plan ahead of preseason fixtures image

Arsenal have completed four deals already this summer and spent over £120m.

The club has brought in Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke.

Mikel Arteta is still hoping to add Viktor Gyokeres, although negotiations for the Sporting star have given Arsenal a headache.

Arteta has given his verdict on the state of the current squad and what it could mean for the remainder of the transfer window.

What did Arteta say about Arsenal's squad?

Arteta spoke to the media about potential transfers and said, "There's still a long time in the window and we are seeking still.

"In terms of numbers, we are short, and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. We are constantly looking in the market."

The Arsenal boss continued, "Until that happens, [we] focus on the players we have - and I'm very pleased with what I have seen in the last 10-15 days."

The club is also working to finalize a deal for Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera. The young defender would help provide backup for Gabriel and William Saliba.

Arteta also spoke on his new transfers making their debuts in the upcoming friendlies and said, "It's like shaking the tree again. New faces... they bring new excitement, new energy as well.

"We signed very important players as well. I think everybody feels that the heights have to go to a different level, and it's what we are seeking."
