Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faces key battles to wrap up two transfer deals before the 2025/26 Premier League season starts.

The Gunners have already completed a double Spanish swoop with Kepa Arrizabalaga arriving as back up to David Raya alongside an eventual move to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

However, on the back of finishing second in the top-flight for a third successive season in 2024/25, Arteta wants reinforcements at both ends of the pitch in the coming weeks.

Sporting CP are stalling in their willingness to sanction Viktor Gyokeres' move to the Emirates Stadium, despite rumours of personal terms already being agreed with the striker, and that deal could potentially collapse.

Alongside potential frustration over Gyokeres, Arteta's push for Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera is also in doubt, with the La Liga side increasing their asking price.

Los Che are determined not to be 'low-balled' by Arsenal on the 21-year-old and they could also pull out of a deal.

Cristhian Mosquera Valencia transfer fee, Arsenal latest

Arsenal have been confident over convincing both Valencia and Mosquera to accept a deal in the region of £15m after seeing a £12m bid rejected.

Mosquera is under contract at the Estadio Mestalla until 2026, with no progress over a renewal, so Valencia are determined to secure their maximum fee.

Reports from the Daily Mirror indicate Mosquera has told Valencia he will not sign a renewal as he wants to join Arsenal his summer.

However, with his defensive partner Yarek Gasiorowski potentially moving to PSV Eindhoven, Valencia could hit pause on the talks as they do not want to be left short at the back next season.

Mosquera is viewed as more a more valuable asset, but several factors over his acquisition remain outside of Arsenal's control, as Arteta's squad head back in for preseason training next week.
