Arsenal  boss Mikel Arteta will need to sell several star names before the Premier League transfer window slams shut on September 1.

As part of Arteta's push to challenge Liverpool in the 2025/26 Premier League title race, the Spanish coach has invested heavily in reinforcements this summer with an estimated £187m spent so far.

That mammoth transfer outlay has included deals to bring in Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres with Liverpool spending around £265m in Arne Slot's own squad revamp.

However, Arsenal chiefs have now instructed Arteta to offload players to balance the books, and potentially fund more new arrivals at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta is still chasing a deal for Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze, and Leandro Trossard could be sold to fund that offer, with multiple clubs interested in the Belgium international.

Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Trossard will all battle for the left-sided spot in Arteta's attack in 2025/26, with stacked options across the front line including Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Gyokeres.

Trossard's potential lack of prominence could force an exit with transfer interest now emerging from the Bundesliga.

Dortmund make Trossard offer accept transfer exit

As per reports from Bundesliga transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal have received  'concrete offers' from two Premier League sides, but Borussia Dortmund are now in the race for the 30-year-old.

Leandro Trossard

Arteta is not actively looking to sell Trossard, but with his contract running until 2027, a departure is possible in August.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward is on a long list of players the club feel can bring in a sizeable exit fee without significantly impacting Arsenal's trophy chances in 2026.

Trossard has netted 21 Premier League goals in two and a half seasons at Arsenal, with eight top-flight goals and seven assists in 2024/25, but Arteta looks to be moving in a different direction.

Dortmund can also offer the lure of UEFA Champions League football and the chance to replace Jammie Gittens in Niko Kovac's attack.
