PDC darts superstars - Ryan Searle career highlights, key facts and top stats to know image

PDC / T Lanning

If darts had a heavy metal soundtrack, Ryan Searle would walk on stage to something loud, slow and unapologetically menacing. Born in Tiverton, Devon, Searle earned his PDC Tour Card in 2016 and quickly made it clear he belonged.

  • Name: Ryan Searle
  • Nationality: English
  • Date of Birth: 21.10.1987
  • Nickname: Heavy Metal
  • Darts Used: 34g Harrows Signature
  • Walk-On Song: Paranoid – Black Sabbath
  • Laterality: Right-handed
  • PDC Ranking (start of 2026): 8th
  • PDC Titles Won: 7

While others fizzed and flashed, Searle did something far more dangerous – he became reliable. Big scoring, tidy finishing and a temperament that suggests he’d be just as calm ordering a pint as he would throwing for a title.

Nicknamed Heavy Metal for both his love of rock music and the sheer weight of his darts, Searle is a man who doesn’t rush, doesn’t flinch and certainly doesn’t panic. He just stands there and batters the board until it gives in.

His PDC World Championship debut came in 2019 and from there he steadily carved out a reputation as one of the tour’s most awkward match-ups. You don’t bully Ryan Searle. You don’t rush him. And if you blink while he’s piling in 140s and 180s, you’re suddenly two legs down wondering how it happened.

Televised runs soon followed, none bigger than his march to the quarters of the 2021 World Grand Prix, then a month later, defeated in the final of the Players Championship Finals. On the Pro Tour, Searle became a serial winner, collecting multiple titles and consistently featuring in latter stages, proof that his game travels just fine away from the bright lights.

What makes Searle so dangerous is the lack of drama. There’s no showboating, no theatrics, just relentless punishment. He grinds opponents down, leg by leg, treble by treble, until resistance feels pointless.

NINE DARTER! Ryan Searle 2023

Following an amazing run to the semi-finals of the recent PDC World Championships, eventually being halted by Luke Littler, Searle shot up the rankings and into the top ten.

Heavy Metal might not shout the loudest, but when Ryan Searle is in full flow, the noise comes from the scoreboard. And if he ever puts it all together on a major stage, nobody on the other side of the oche will enjoy the experience.
