He shot to fame by winning the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 as a regional qualifier, stunning the world with victories over top names on home soil. That success led him to win a PDC Tour Card in 2020, and he has since claimed eight Players Championship titles and hit two televised nine-darters, including one at the 2024 World Championship.

In 2022, Heta became a national hero by winning the World Cup of Darts alongside Simon Whitlock - Australia’s first triumph in the event. He also captured his maiden European Tour title at the 2022 Gibraltar Darts Trophy, backing it up with consistent performances and ranking titles in 2023–25, including a PC14 win in early 2025.

Nicknamed The Heat in a clever twist on his surname, Heta combines calm scoring with sudden bursts of brilliance under pressure. His willingness to take on the best and back himself has made him a respected and feared opponent - so much so that fellow player Chris Dobey admitted he’s never beaten him. Even Luke Littler in full flow couldn't see him off in a classic 2024 UK Open clash.

Off the oche, Heta balances his professional life with a grounded persona. Now based on the English/Welsh border with his wife Meaghan and supporting his Māori heritage, he also showed a playful side by poking fun at Luke Humphries - mocking him on social media with golf balls during a rare dip in form.

At 37, Damon Heta has firmly cemented himself among darts’ global elite. With major titles, high averages, and the sheer force of character to back them up, The Heat remains a fierce and unpredictable threat whenever he steps to the oche.
