Cricket's biggest domestic drawcard is back on your screens in 2024, as the Indian Premier League T20 competition returns this spring. The 17th edition of the IPL after its inauguration back in 2008, this season's competition will see the 10 franchises across India hitting runs aplenty in their bid to win the title.

2023 champions Chennai Super Kings are on the hunt to win their sixth title, having drawn level with the Mumbai Indians as the IPL's most successful team after beating Gujarat Titans in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium last May.

The off-season auction has seen several players move across the league to new franchises for big money, including England's Tom Curran and Australian captain Pat Cummins, as quality of the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket's premier domestic competition continues to increase year-on-year.

With 10 teams stocked with world-class players ready to go over the next two months, The Sporting News is your go-to-place for all things IPL, with TV and streaming details to make sure you don't miss a second of the action.

When does IPL 2024 start and finish?

The 2024 IPL got underway on Friday, March 22 at 8:00 p.m. local time (IST), as defending champions Chennai Super Kings faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India — beating the Bangalore side by six wickets to begin their title defence with a victory.

The new season will run for just over two months, culminating with the final match set to be played on Sunday, May 26. In last year's decider, Chennai defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets to claim their fifth title, and the Super Kings will be looking to become the first franchise in IPL history to win back-to-back titles twice.
