T20 World Cup 2022: England schedule, results and route to the final image

England were among the favourites to win the T20 World Cup in Australia and they justified that pre-tournament hype by beating Pakistan in the final.

After winning their group in the 2021 edition, England were knocked out with a five-wicket defeat by New Zealand in their semifinal in Abu Dhabi.

This time they went all the way though, beating Pakistan to lift the trophy at the iconic MCG.

To reach the semi-finals, England needed to finish in the top two positions of their Super 12 group of six teams.

England T20 World Cup opponents and results

England faced Afghanistan, Australia and New Zealand in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup.

They played Ireland — the runners-up in Group B — in their second match of the tournament.

They then met Sri Lanka — the Group A winners — in their final group game.

In the semi-finals, England defeated India for a spot in the final, where they booked a spot against Pakistan that resulted in Ben Stokes leading his team to glory.
