His sixth Test century not only gave India control of the match but also earned praise from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century change the momentum of the fifth Test
India were in a tough spot after their first-innings collapse for 224 and England gaining the upper hand by reaching 175/3 on Day 2.
But the Indian bowlers turned the game around by bundling out England for just 247, thanks to some fine spells by Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
The momentum quickly shifted in India’s favour and Jaiswal ensured it stayed that way.
Coming in for his second innings after a disappointing outing in the first, the 23-year-old dominated. His century came in the 51st over, and by the time he was dismissed, India’s lead had gone past the 250-run mark.

He built a crucial 107-run stand with tailender Akash Deep, who also made a gritty 66.
What did Sachin Tendulkar say about Jaiswal's century?
Tendulkar took to social media to express his admiration for Jaiswal's batting. He described the knock as “outstanding”, especially on a surface where shot-making required both courage and patience.
“Outstanding 100 by Yashasvi on a sporting pitch that tested courage and concentration. Full marks to Akashdeep too, batting with heart and determination under pressure,” Tendulkar wrote.
The praise wasn’t limited to Jaiswal alone. Akash Deep’s contribution with the bat also stood out. Coming in at a point when India needed someone to hang around, his determination helped stretch India’s lead.

This was Jaiswal’s fourth century against England and his sixth overall in Tests, and it came at a time when India had to win to draw the series.
His reaction after reaching the milestone- removing his helmet, blowing kisses toward the dressing room and forming a heart with his hands, showed how much it meant to him.
