Match 8 of IPL 2024 saw one of the most destructive displays of T20 batting in the history of the sport, as Sunrisers Hyderabad took on Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad.

Put in to bat, SRH openers Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head helped them score a massive 81 in the powerplay, before they raced to 148 in 10 overs, and 201 in 15 overs. They eventually finished on 277/3, the highest-ever IPL score thanks to an end-overs blitz from Heinrich Klaasen (80*) and Aiden Markram (42*).

In reply, MI managed to keep up with the asking rate for much of their innings, but eventually fell short by 31 runs as they finished on 246/5. 

Highest aggregate score in an IPL match 

The match between SRH and MI saw a stunning total of 523 runs scored, the highest ever in IPL history. It smashed the previous record of 469, set when CSK scored 246/5 and RR scored 223/5 in 2010.

This is the fifth time in all T20 cricket that the match aggregate has breached 500 runs and the first time in the history of IPL.
