Cruz (28-3-1) beat Rolando Romero in March 2024 to become the WBA super lightweight champion, but he lost the belt a few months later against Jose Valenzuela. "Pitbull" has since won two straight.
The 27-year-old Mexican fighter looks to go 3-0 in 2025 and build himself back up to being a champion.
"I know I can knock him out," Cruz said. "He’s human, and the punches hurt him just like anyone else. We’re gonna make sure that we accomplish that objective when the time comes."
Roach (25-1-2) is the current WBA super featherweight champion. He was on a six-fight win streak before facing Gervonta Davis in March. The two fought to a draw in a contest marred by controversy after David dropped to one knee during the fight, but it wasn’t called a knockdown.
A rematch was planned before Davis attempted to fight Jake Paul in a now-canceled bout. Now, Roach once again looks to take over another division.
"I love facing his style, because it plays right into my strengths. It’s gonna show on December 6. All I have to do is do what I know how to do, and I’ll be victorious for sure," Roach said.
