Pat McCormack will continue his push for world honours when he takes on Miguel Parra in a WBA welterweight world title eliminator in Sunderland on Saturday night.

McCormack (7-0, 5 KOs) was an amateur standout for Great Britain, winning silver at both the 2019 World Championships and Tokyo Olympic Games two years later.

The 30-year-old will box in front of a hometown crowd for his first outing since impressively stopping Liverpool veteran Robbie Davies Jr. in February.

The WBA's latest rankings, elevating McCormack to No. 7 before he faces No. 12 contender Parra (25-5-1, 17 KOs), have added some extra importance to the contest.

Mexico's Parra, 32, is on a three-fight KO streak since dropping a split decision last July to undefeated Uzbek Shakhram Giyasov, who is currently the WBA No. 1 contender.

A former world champion begins her rebuild on the undercard, while a couple of Matchroom's most exciting young prospects take their next steps.

Pat McCormack vs. Miguel Parra undercard

Here's a breakdown of the main card action that will take place before McCormack vs. Parra. Matchroom prospects Cameron Vuong, Adam Maca and debutant Bradley Casey are also slated to appear versus TBC opponents.

Mark Dickinson vs. Troy Williamson

  • Division/Weight: Super Middleweight
  • Dickinson record: 8-1
  • Williamson record: 20-4-1
  • Belts at stake: English Super Middleweight

The chief support is a north-east derby, with Dickinson making the first defence of the English title he won via a unanimous 10-round decision win over the previously unbeaten Reece Farnhill last time out.

Former British super welterweight champion Williamson is stepping up to the 12-stone division for the first time after a run of three consecutive defeats at middleweight.

Sandy Ryan vs. Jade Grierson

  • Division/Weight: Welterweight
  • Ryan record: 7-3-1
  • Grierson record: 5-0-1
  • Belts at stake: N/A

Former WBO welterweight champion Ryan begins her rebuild following back-to-back points losses to Mikaela Mayer in the United States. The first was close and came via a majority decision before a more definitive reverse in the rematch.

Grierson is undefeated but has never boxed an opponent with a winning record or gone beyond six rounds, so this represents a huge step up in class.

Tiah Mai Ayton vs. Lydie Bialic

  • Division/Weight: Super Bantamweight
  • Ayton record: 1-0
  • Blazevic record: 3-3-1
  • Belts at stake: N/A

Teen sensation Ayton, after a varied junior career across combat disciplines, made a splash on her pro debut with a devastating third-round stoppage of Sara Orszagi in June.

France's Bialic has never been stopped in her three defeats and will aim to provide a more robust test.

Leo Atang vs. Cristian Uwaka

  • Division/Weight: Heavyweight
  • Atang record: 1-0
  • Uwaka record: 1-5-1
  • Belts at stake: N/A

Teenage heavyweight star Leo Atang wasted little time on his pro debut in July, battering rotund Bulgarian Milen Paunov to defeat inside a round.

Promoter Eddie Hearn does not need to rush with the 18-year-old, so expect it to be a similar story against the 40-year-old Uwaka, who snapped a run of three successive losses with a draw against debutant Joe Guest-Bourne last time out.
