Kieron Conway makes the first defence of his British middleweight title against rising star George Liddard at York Hall on Friday.
It's an intriguing clash for the famous Lonsdale belt at one of the world's most storied boxing venues. Conway's Commonwealth strap is also on the line.
Conway (23-3-1, 7 KOs) won the British title in style last time out when he stopped Gerome Warburton in four rounds on the Johnny Fisher vs. Dave Allen 2 undercard in London.
It was the 29-year-old's second attempt at winning domestic gold after a 2019 split-decision draw against Ted Cheeseman, who at the time was trained by Liddard's cornerman Tony Sims.
Defeats in the United States against Souleymane Cissokho and Austin 'Ammo' Williams show the class Conway has mixed in. It is a level Liddard (12-0, 7KOs) is tipped to reach and surpass by many good judges, but if he has taken this leap too soon, the experienced champion will be ready to take full advantage.
There is further middleweight boxing action on the Bethnal Green undercard, while two elite women look to move themselves back in the direction of world honours at super flyweight.

Kieron Conway vs. George Liddard undercard
Here's a breakdown of all the action on the Conway vs. Liddard card:
Jimmy Sains vs. Troy Coleman
- Division/Weight: Middleweight
- Sains record: 10-0
- Coleman record: 14-3-1
- Belts at stake: English Middleweight title (vacant)
Another member of Sims' gym, Southern Area champion Sains, will try to take his next step up the ladder when he faces the well-travelled Coleman for the English title.
Nine of Sains' 10 victories have come inside the distance and it will not have escaped his attention that Coleman has been stopped twice in his three defeats.
This is a battle of area champions after Coleman secured a TKO win over the previously undefeated Bradley Goldsmith to lift the Midlands title in April.
Shannon Ryan vs. Chloe Watson
- Division/Weight: Super Flyweight
- Ryan record: 9-1
- Watson record: 8-1
- Belts at stake: IBF Inter-Continental Super Flyweight
Ryan has back-to-back wins after losing her British and Commonwealth title fight against Emma Dolan via split decision last June.
Watson went down to a maiden career loss via the same method in her previous contest, pipped by Jasmina Zapotoczna and losing her European title in the process.
This will be Watson's first contest under Paul Stevenson at the Everton Red Triangle Gym. Up to and including the Zapotoczna fight, she was trained by the late Ricky Hatton.
Both fighters have the full IBF champion, Irma Garcia of Mexico, in their sights.
Taylor Bevan vs. Lukas Ferneza
- Division/Weight: Super-Middleweight
- Bevan record: 5-0
- Ferneza record: 6-3
- Belts at stake: N/A
Bevan steps up to eight rounds for the first time in the paid ranks after five knockouts in as many bouts.
All of Ferneza's professional defeats have been via relatively narrow points margins and he boxed internationally as an amateur.
Emmanuel Buttigieg vs. Christian Schembri
- Division/Weight: Middleweight
- Buttigieg record: 9-0
- Schembri record: 27-12-1
- Belts at stake: N/A
Buttigieg makes his fourth outing of 2025 against experienced visitor Schembri.
The Maltese boxer lost on his previous visit to the UK, dropping a unanimous decision to future British champion Nathan Heaney.
Tiah Mai Ayton vs. Laura Belen Valdebenito
- Division/Weight: Bantamweight
- Ayton record: 2-0
- Valdebenito record: 8-6-1
- Belts at stake: N/A
Ayton has made an explosive start to her professional career with back-to-back stoppage wins and is tipped for great things by Katie Taylor, with whom she shares management.
Argentina's Valdebenito has only been stopped once and might provide a more testing gauge for Ayton's power.
Jermaine Dhliwayo vs. Mario Victorino Vera
- Division/Weight: Featherweight
- Dhliwayo record: 6-0
- Vera record: 8-9
- Belts at stake: N/A
London southpaw Dhliwayo returns to York Hall five months on from his previous fight, where he secured a first career stoppage against experienced journeyman Eliecer Quezada.
The 23-year-old southpaw is likely to face a similar proposition in Mexico's Vera, who has lost his past two and been stopped three times.
Adam Maca vs. Juan Alberto Batista
- Division/Weight: Super-Bantamweight
- Maca record: 2-0
- Batista record: 1-21
- Belts at stake: N/A
Five-time English and two-time European amateur champion Maca turned professional three weeks after turning 18.
There is plenty of anticipation over the 18-year-old's long-term future and Batista will be out to stop him securing a third stoppage in three.
