Joe Joyce has lost four from his last five fights

Joe Joyce (16-4, 15 KOs) could make a comeback against British rival, Richard Riakporhe (18-1, 14 KOs), on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2 card on November 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, London.

The 40-year-old heavyweight, who was riding high as the WBO Interim champion two years ago in 2023, has now lost four from his last five fights, which included back-back knockout defeats to Zhilei Zhang.

The Putney puncher's last loss came against Croatian Filip Hrgovic in April this year, via unanimous decision, with one judge scoring the 10-round contest as close as 96-95. However, prior to that brave effort, back in July 2024, he was dropped and defeated by Derek Chisora.

Despite the setbacks, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalist still insists he has plenty to offer boxing.

So, BOXXER promoter, Ben Shalom, recently revealed he is looking to match 'The Juggernaut' with one of his world title contenders.

Shalom said, "We're pushing for Richard Riakporhe to be on this card. A fight against Joe Joyce is a great British heavyweight fight.

"I always felt that Richard was a heavyweight. It frustrated me that he couldn't perform at cruiserweight anymore - much like Lawrence Okolie.

"We got him [Riakporhe] back and he looked brilliant out in Riyadh." The 25-year-old Londoner forced Argentinian heavyweight Kevin Espindola - who went the six-round distance with Moses Itauma - to retire after four rounds last May on the Canelo-Scull card.

Shalom continued, "I'm excited for him to get into the heavyweight mix. He can do some serious damage now."

Riakporhe is a former British cruiserweight champion with just one loss on his impressive record. Despite defeating Chris Billam-Smith in 2019; when they collided again in 2024, he was forced to take his first defeat via unanimous decision, as CBS retained his WBO world cruiserweight belt.

Now that the 35-year-old Londoner has successfully completed his debut at heavyweight, a matchup with Joyce would make for a fantastic 50-50 domestic fight.

Signed to Queensberry Promotions, Joyce is adamant that he wishes to keep boxing, but some think that the slugger has taken too many on the chin during his 20-bout, eight-year pro career.

Promoter Frank Warren is one of very many who believe that Joyce's time in the sport is nearing its end. The Hall of Fame promoter said this after his last loss, "He's got to go and have a real serious think about the future, which is what he will do.

"We'll have a chat and see where we go from there. He's been a great servant for British boxing, he's never in a boring fight. He's tough as old boots and done us proud in the Olympic Games."
