Ukraine vs. France prediction, lineups, odds and bet builder tips as France begin their World Cup qualifying campaign image

Qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is reaching its denouement across the globe and we have an intriguing contest in Europe, as Ukraine take on France, now firmly into the final cycle of manager Didier Deschamps.

This match is being played at the neutral venue of Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw in Poland, as a result of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine have an abundance of talent and should perhaps be better than what they have shown, but those aforementioned extenuating circumstances may well have an impact on what they can achieve.

France are a team that really should have won more than just one major tournament since 2000, but Les Bleus once again have a star studded squad that should be heading to North America next summer.

The Sporting News previews this one with the latest betting odds, tips and predictions.

Ukraine vs. France prediction

The fact that this one is taking place in Poland, and so Ukraine do lack a natural home advantage, makes the upset even less likely, but it will likely have to be a hard-fought clash for the French.

France, as they head to Poland, are the favourites for this one, priced up at 2/5 with Ladbrokes, whilst the draw is 18/5 and Ukraine are out as underdogs at 6/1.

The Sporting News' Score Prediction: Ukraine 1-2 France

  • France to beat Ukraine in Wroclaw is given a 71.4% probability by Ladbrokes.

Ukraine vs. France expected lineups

Ukraine vs. France team news

  • Ukraine have a couple of injury absentees for this one with Andriy Lunin now missing alongside Oleksandr Tymchyk. That leaves Anatoliy Trubin to become the number one for the Ukrainians.
  • Didier Deschamps is also dealing with a couple of injury issues as centre-back William Saliba is sidelined for the French alongside attacker Rayan Cherki.
  • It will be intriguing to see how France line up for this one in attack, with Desire Doue perhaps playing in a deeper role and Ousmane Dembele playing through the middle, shifting Kylian Mbappe to the left.

Ukraine vs. France Bet Builder tips

Our bet builder for this game is France to win (2/5) and both teams to score (11/10), with Vitaliy Mykolenko to pick up a card should he start (14/5), and Desire Doue to have two or more shots on target (1/1), which comes to overall odds of 16/1 with Ladbrokes.
