This weekend marks the finale to the FedEx Cup play-offs with the 2025 Tour Championship. The 30 players who have made it to this point will all start the tournament tied, yet only one golfer will leave East Lake Golf Club on Sunday as the Tour Champion.
The betting favourite, to nobody's surprise, is Scottie Scheffler. He's yielding 13/8 odds, which should give you an idea of just how hot the best player in the world is right now. He's smouldering. He had to play without his caddie, Ted Scott, last weekend, and he still obliterated the BMW Championship field. He finished 15 under to record his fifth win since May 4.
Throughout the entire PGA Tour season, Scheffler's three worst finishes are a T11, a T20 and a T25. He landed within the top 10 in the 15 other starts he made. That includes 10 top-5 finishes and, as mentioned, the five victories. We won't bore you with Tiger Woods-comparison hyperbole, but it's easy to see why so many analysts go there. Nobody in sports has dominated quite like Scheffler has over the past two years.
Of course, world No. 2 Rory McIlroy — a three-time Tour Champion — sits comfortably in second on the odds boards (7/1). Tommy Fleetwood — always the bridesmaid, never the bride — lands third at 12/1. Ludvig Aberg (16/1) and Russell Henley (18/1), both of whom have quietly enjoyed solid seasons, round out the top five.
Other notable names include 2023 Tour Champion Viktor Hovland (22/1), Sam Burns (25/1) and 2021 Tour Champion Patrick Cantlay (25/1). Justin Thomas, Cameron Young and Collin Morikawa (all 28/1) are the only other golfers with shorter than 33/1 odds. It's worth mentioning, too, that even if Scheffler runs away with his second consecutive Tour Championship, the rest of the field is playing for money as well as Ryder Cup contention.

East Lake Golf Club, the home course of legendary golfer Bobby Jones, is Atlanta's oldest course. It's also one of the more challenging par-70 venues on TOUR, measuring 7.346 yards and featuring narrow fairways, challenging Bermuda grass rough, and fast, undulating greens.
Many describe East Lake as a classic risk-vs-reward Donald Ross layout, which should benefit the top dogs who enjoy off-the-tee power in addition to accuracy with the driver, irons and putter. And, of course, the Tour Champion will need to play with a balance of confidence and composure only the best in the world are lucky enough to have.

Tour Championship 2025 best bet to win

Scottie Scheffler (9/5, AK Bets)
Look, we get it — it's boring. But Scheffler is the best in the world for a reason. He stays cool under pressure and hits the biggest shots to get out to fantastic leads, then he preserves those leads with remarkable consistency across the board. He seems to make the right calls — and execute them — at every turn of a difficult course.
You saw the stats above, but it bears repeating: five wins in 2025. Top-25 finishes in 18/18 starts. Top 15 a whopping 15 times, 10 of which were top five. In a field of 30 where he's the defending champion and the hottest athlete on the planet, it's honestly a wonder we're even getting close to 2-to-1 odds.
Tour Championship 2025 top value bet
Tommy Fleetwood (157/10, Betfair)
Fleetwood is still looking for that elusive first win — how amazing would it be if he pulled it off at the PGA Championship? He finished T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T4 at the BMW Championship, so he's hotter than just about everyone not named Scheffler.
The Brit has accuracy off the tee and on approach. He's a fantastic scrambler, and he putts as well as anyone on TOUR when he's on. Don't be surprised if Fleetwood finally takes down a championship this weekend in Atlanta.

Tour Championship 2025 top long-shot bet
Ben Griffin (48/1, Betfair)
Griffin claims to have overdosed on Creatine last week in Round 4 of the BMW Championship, around the time that he went six over on his first three holes. He chugged a bunch of water and proceeded to card eight pars and seven birdies the rest of the round to finish T12.
Imagine if he hadn't swallowed a massive clump of Creatine?! He might have won. Griffin has two victories on the season — the Charles Schwab and the Zurich Classic — and he quietly has nine top-10 finishes. He's solid on approach, scrambling and putting, all skills that will come in handy this weekend. This feels like a generous offering.
Tour Championship 2025 best bet to finish top 20
Harry Hall (23/10, Betfair)
We bet Hall 7/5 to place in the top 20 at the BMW Championship last weekend, and he finished solo sixth. Now we're going back to the well and backing him to finish in the top 10, effectively in the top-third of the field.
What's not to like about Hall's game? He ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained, guided mostly by his elite short game and scrambling. He's not a great pick to win it all, but he has shown again and again that he's one of the top picks to place in big situations.
