Ryder Cup 2025 tips and predictions: Expert betting picks for Team USA vs. Team Europe at Bethpage Black image

The 2025 Ryder Cup has finally arrived, with the best players from Team USA and Team Europe set to battle for international glory at historic Bethpage Black in Long Island, NY. It's one of the best tournaments in all of sports, and we can't wait to fill out our betting cards for the weekend.

Like most sports, being at home has always counted for a lot in the Ryder Cup. Outside of Europe's "Miracle at Medinah" in 2012, the team with home-course advantage has largely dominated. Road teams have only mustered two wins in the past 13 Ryder Cups dating back to 1997.

Europe won the last Ryder in Italy (2023), but USA still leads the all-time rivalry 27-15. The Americans have the benefit of strong depth and Bethpage course familiarity, but they won't take the experienced Team Europe lightly. This might be Europe's best team since that dramatic 2012 stunner.

Betting on the Ryder obviously differs from traditional golf tournament betting. These are teams — All-Star teams, really — so we can't bet on individual favourites, sleepers and long-shots to win. We can, however, pick a winning side, predict the final score and make some fun prop bets.

Let's take a look at the odds for the 2025 Ryder Cup, then reveal our best bets and top special bets for the weekend, courtesy of Sporting News in-house betting expert Sloan Piva.

European Team (7/4, bet365)

Winning a Ryder Cup on the road might be one of the tallest tasks in all of sports. That said, if any team can do it, it's this European squad.

Europe has the good fortune of bringing back all but one player from its winning 2023 team, including world No. 2 Rory McIlroy and FedExCup champion Tommy Fleetwood. The USA, by contrast, has four Ryder Cup rookies — although, to be fair, New York native Cameron Young is no rookie to Bethpage Black.

The veteran nucleus of the European Team has also enjoyed much greater success at the Ryder Cup. McIlroy (16-13-4), Fleetwood (7-3-2), Jon Rahm (6-3-3), Justin Rose (14-9-3), Robert MacIntyre (2-0-1) and Tyrell Hatton (5-4-2) have combined for a 50-32-15 lifetime record at this biannual event.

Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, is just 2-2-3 over his three Ryder Cups. Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa are shells of their formerly dominant selves. Harris English, Russell Henley and JJ Spaun are all on the wrong side of 35, and the latter two will be making their Ryder debuts.

Take Europe to shock the world and retain the Cup. What a story it will make if and when it happens! If you're into correct score props, we're taking Europe 15-13 (12/1 on most sportsbooks)

Top European Points Scorer: Tommy Fleetwood (6/1, Paddy Power)

Tommy Fleetwood ended the summer on an extreme hot streak, with a T3 at the St. Jude, a T4 at the BMW Championship and a victory at PGA Tour Championship. He's also 7-3-2 lifetime at the Ryder Cup, so we love the price we're getting on the Brit to lead Europe in scoring.

The Brit has accuracy off the tee and on approach. He's an elite scrambler, and he putts as well as anyone in the world when he's on. Don't be surprised if Fleetwood picks up right where he left off in August and leads the European Team to a monumental win.

Ryder Cup 2025 top debutant

Russell Henley (15/8, bet365)

A lot of colleagues have been rallying around fellow Ryder Cup rookies Ben Griffin and Cameron Young to have the best score of the five first-timers. We get it — Young grew up 50 miles from Bethpage Black, and Griffin served as one of the most consistent golfers on TOUR this season.

All that said, we're riding (or, Ryding?) with Russell Henley. He's expected to pair with Scheffler in both foursome matches, and if he performs well in those early stages he will definitely be counted on later in the weekend.

The world No. 3 behind Scheffler and McIlroy, Henley's not your typical 36-year-old Ryder Cup rookie. He won his Singles match en route to a 3-1-0 record as a Presidents Cup debutant last year, so he's got the nerves to deliver in this competitive, high-stakes environment.
