The 2025 Club World Cup is off to a flying start, and Inter Milan step onto the pitch in the early hours of Wednesday morning with their sights firmly set on the trophy.

In their Group E opener, the Italian giants face Monterrey, the Mexican side who will enjoy the backing of a passionate crowd at the iconic Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.

For Inter, this tournament is a shot at redemption. After suffering a crushing 5-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final, the Nerazzurri arrive in the U.S. looking to hit the reset button.

With Simone Inzaghi no longer at the helm, former club stalwart Cristian Chivu takes over managerial duties. The squad boasts fresh firepower too, Brazilian forward Luis Henrique joins from Marseille to complement Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram up front. A statement win in their opener is the expectation.

On the other side, Monterrey enters with something to prove. Their ticket to the Club World Cup came by way of their 2021 CONCACAF Champions League triumph, but silverware has eluded them since.

Despite a string of coaching changes and a heartbreak in the 2024 final, they hope to turn the page. With veterans like Sergio Ramos and Sergio Canales in the lineup and Domenec Torrent, longtime assistant to Pep Guardiola, calling the shots, Monterrey is aiming to rewrite its narrative on American soil.

According to Betfair, the favourite is Inter: the Italian team's win pays 8/15, while Monterrey's win in Los Angeles goes up to 9/2. The draw is 16/5.

Inter vs. Monterrey prediction, tips, bet builder and odds for Club World Cup clash

Inter to win without conceding: 7/4 (betway)

The gulf in class is hard to ignore. Inter, freshly minted as runners-up in both the Champions League and Serie A, go up against a Monterrey side that's lost its grip on the summit of Mexican football in recent seasons. While Inter are heavy favourites to grab all three points in Los Angeles (1/2 with betway), backing them to win without conceding adds some real betting value. Monterrey doesn't pose the same threat as PSG, and Inter have kept clean sheets in their last two victories. The Mexicans, meanwhile, are struggling in front of goal, especially with Berterame under fire from fans after a rough run of form, and breaking through Yann Sommer's defence will be no easy task.

Lautaro Martinez to score at any time: 4/1 (betway)

Inter's captain and talisman, Lautaro Martínez, remains the club’s top gun, having netted 22 times in 49 matches during the first half of the year—outpacing even Marcus Thuram’s 18. Despite dealing with a few injury setbacks and a goal drought since May 6 against Barcelona, this match presents an ideal chance for El Toro to get back on the scoresheet. Monterrey’s backline has leaked goals in three of their last four, and goalkeeper Esteban Andrada hasn’t inspired much confidence lately. Against this shaky defence, Lautaro looks primed to pounce.
