Sloan Piva's golf betting tips: Bank of Utah Championship odds, best bets for Black Desert Golf tournament image

The annual Bank of Utah Championship  tees off this weekend from Black Desert Golf Course in Utah. The PGA TOUR tournament carries a $6 million purse and a star-studded field, including Maverick McNealyAlex Noren and Jason Day.

AllSportsPeople enjoyed a winning pick last week at the DP World India Championship, selecting Tommy Fleetwood as our outright best bet at 18/1. The goal now: carry over momentum from that victory and grab another winner from the deserts of Ivine, Utah in southwestern US.

This marks the first-ever tournament with this name — it was previously called the Black Desert Championship — but the FedExCup event itself has been around for a while. It's a top 100-ranked course, framed by massive lava fields and red rock vistas. It's also a birdiefest, so the scoring should come early and often.

Let's have a look at the betting odds for the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship in Utah, then let betting expert Sloan Piva outline his picks and predictions for the inaugural event.

Bank of Utah Championship best bet to win

Odds correct at start of tournament. Click links below to bet.

Kurt Kitayama

20/1, AK Bets

Kitayama has quietly enjoyed a very strong 2025. He ranks second in the Bank of Utah field in strokes-gained tee-to-green over the past three months, and his skill profile fits Black Desert Golf Course perfectly.

The California native bagged a victory at the 3M Open this summer, prevailing over a far deeper field than this one. He then finished T9 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T19 at the BMW Championship.

Kitayama ranks 13th on TOUR for birdie average, seventh for total eagles and seventh for scoring average. On a course that rewards aggressive players, he should be one of the top contenders.

He proved that in his Black Desert start last year, finishing T25. With confidence and course experience, Kitayama seems like a strong bet to pull off his second victory of the year. He yields fantastic value at 20-to-1.

Bank of Utah Championship top value bet

Rico Hoey

30/1, AK Bets

Hoey enters as one of the top players off the tee and on approach in this weekend's field, and he enters the Bank of America Championship in solid form. He finished T4 at the recent Baycurrent Classic, T9 at the Procore, T8 at the Barracuda and T11 at the John Deere Classic.

The Philipino native ranks second in this field in recent approach play, and first in proximity from 150-200 yards. His short game should eat up this Black Desert course, perhaps even landing him in the winner's circle on Sunday evening.

Bank of Utah Championship top long-shot bet

Taylor Montgomery

107/1 outright on Betfair or 3/1 to finish top 10 on Virgin Bets

Like the aforementioned Kitayama, Montgomery finished T25 at this tournament last year. And like Kitayama, Montgomery feels like a strong bet to win. The difference between the two? Linemakers seem to be completely overlooking Montgomery.

Montgomery may not have a win in his PGA TOUR career, but he certainly seems poised for that maiden victory soon. He has three top-12 finishes over his past five starts, including a T6 at Sanderson Farms his last time out (Oct. 2-5). He has also carded 63s in two different rounds over his past three tourneys.

With an elite putter, a dynamic short game and a penchant for carding birdies, the Las Vegas native has plenty of scoring prowess. Montgomery has what it takes to finally get over the hump and win a big one.
