Chelsea given only 30% chance of beating PSG in Club World Cup final image

The stage is set for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain ready to battle it out for global supremacy this Sunday, July 13, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Chelsea booked their place in the showpiece with a composed 2-0 win over Fluminense, while PSG turned heads with a dominant 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

Chelsea have made the most of a favourable path through the knockout rounds, yet the oddsmakers still seem to be sleeping on their potential to lift the trophy. The bookies already have a firm favourite, and according to Bet365, PSG are tipped to take home the silverware, with odds of 1/3. Chelsea, meanwhile, are priced at 9/4 to pull off what would be considered an upset — giving them only a 30% implied chance.

Who is favoured to win the Club World Cup?

There’s good reason for the Parisian favouritism. Not only are they fresh off a Champions League triumph, but they’ve carried that elite form into the Club World Cup, even overcoming the absence of Ousmane Dembele for much of the tournament. Despite a surprise stumble against Botafogo in the group stage, Luis Enrique’s side has bounced back in convincing fashion.

Chelsea, for their part, have looked sharp throughout the competition. The addition of Joao Pedro (19/5 anytime goalscorer odds) has reinvigorated their attack — the forward netted twice in the semi final—and they’ve shown the kind of cohesion that suggests they won’t roll over easily.

The two sides haven’t faced each other since 2016, when PSG edged a 2-1 victory. In their head-to-head history, the French outfit holds a slight edge with three wins, three draws, and two losses. But with silverware on the line and momentum on both sides, expect fireworks in New Jersey.

Chelsea vs. Paris Saint-Germain prediction

  • Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain
  • BTTS - Yes  & Total Goals - Over 2.5 : 20/21 (Betway)

Both teams arrive at the final after dominant semi-final displays, but the scorelines arguably don’t do justice to just how commanding they were. That said, PSG seem to have a bit more left in the tank heading into this decisive clash.

On paper, the Parisians faced the tougher path to the final, yet they delivered emphatic performances throughout. The question now is whether that demanding run may have taken a toll, while Chelsea, having had a relatively smoother ride, could be fresher and ready to pounce in this title showdown.
