What's wrong with the Eagles' passing game? - Jalen Hurts and Co. searching for answers image

Jalen Hurts was at a loss to provide an explanation for the Philadelphia Eagles' struggles in the passing game following their 21-17 defeat to the Denver Broncos in Week 5.

The Eagles suffered their first loss of the 2025 season as they let a 17-3 home lead slip on Sunday.

Philadelphia appeared to be in control against one of the best defensive teams in football early in the third quarter, but the Broncos scored 18 unanswered points in the fourth to snatch victory.

The Eagles punted on four of their final five possessions, their last series of the game ending in an unsuccessful Hail Mary.

Philadelphia netted just 48 yards across those five series, with wide receiver DeVonta Smith claiming the offense was not on the same page in the passing game.

Hurts did not make a similar claim, but vowed to find the solutions to improve an attack that ranks 17th in Expected Points Added per play and 21st in Success Rate through five weeks.

Hurts unsure of Eagles issue

Asked about Smith's comments, Hurts told his post-game press conference: "I'd have to ask him what he’s referring to because I don't remember any of those things happening.

"But again, if I watch the film and something comes up, that'd be something that we can talk about and grow from.

"I can't tell you what the issue is. Ultimately, I can take accountability for everything and take responsibility for it all.

"The lack of execution and maybe lack of sense of urgency in how our operation is. And so I take the responsibility for all of it because I’m just trying to find solutions for it.

"Just trying to grow and learn from it and I look at this as an opportunity in itself. You play the game to win and when you don't, you learn from it."
