Turning to English football, while there are few clubs that use the words FC and United in their names, no team's name is likely to be more striking than Nottingham Forest, which chose to append the word "Forest," meaning woods, to the name of the city where the club is located.
While some fans might assume this origin directly stems from the legendary Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood, this is actually a misconception that fans have perpetuated.

ป่ามาจากไหน?
The origin of the name Forest dates back to the club's founding in 1865, or 158 years ago. Originally, most of the team's players were from a shinty background (a Scottish folk sport similar to hockey but played on grass) and switched to playing football. However, at that time, there was already a football club in Nottingham called น็อตต์ เคาท์ตี้, so they had to come up with a different name for their club.
However, driven by a desire for greater local identity, they opted to directly incorporate the city's name, Nottingham, into the club's title, as the term น็อตต์ broadly signifies Nottinghamshire county.
While there's no definitive record of who first added "Forest" to the club's name, historical club records suggest it originated from the team's first home ground, สวนป่าสันทนาการ (Forest Recreation Ground). This was a public park and outdoor sports area located north of Nottingham, which the club utilized as its home base starting in 1865-1878.

Before fans later affectionately nicknamed them Nottingham Forest, and even after moving grounds six times, everyone kept calling them the same. The current stadium, City Ground, is located about 4.5 kilometers south of their first home ground, the Forest Recreation Ground.
Returning to the Sherwood Forest Recreation Ground, the first home ground of Forest also has an interesting origin for its name. Its name comes from the legendary Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood, with locals believing this recreation ground to be the former site of Sherwood Forest in the Middle Ages before it became a public park today.
